To Me, all the Operating Systems are terrible and no one is perfect. All of them crashes at some points and yes they all do Suck at moments. But what really makes Me choose Mac and OS X is its performance over other platforms and the way things just work in it, calibration of software and hardware. I own a PC too and I love doing things on it but the experience is not as much enjoyable as it is on Mac for Me. Everyone has its personal preferences, so do I. Here are 10 Reasons Why I Prefer a Mac over Windows PC.
10. PC’s comes loaded with crapware, Macs are not!
Whenever you buy a new Desktop PC or a Laptop PC, It comes with pre-loaded bunch of software that is nothing more than crap. 90% of it are trial versions of software and you actually have to buy to use it. If you want to get rid of these you have to uninstall them (which takes a lot of time and sorting out things) but sometimes it’s impossible so you end up Reinstalling Windows, which again is a lot of time-consuming task.
9. PC get viruses, Mac doesn’t (A myth):
You have to install an Antivirus (which slows down your PC, more), update it regularly, run scans, take care while plugging friend’s flash drive while transferring files and still there are chances that you can get a Virus and lose all your cat pictures. Macs are less likely to get infected to viruses (because the viruses written for Mac are a lot less in number than Windows). Apple takes care of it for you! Also Macs are fast at booting and shutting down. And when it comes to MacBook, you simply put it to sleep and it’s always ready for action when you need that power.
8. Mac can run Both! Windows and OS X:
You can have fun of both worlds on Mac. But you cannot take advantage of this on a PC (unless you are someone who is easy with Hackintosh and stuff) or you can simply use Apps like WinOnX to run windows software while you are in the OS X environment.
7. Great Apps with Great Computers:
When you buy a Mac, it comes with a bunch of cool software that everyone loves to use. iLife is a great example (which comes free with every new Mac) and includes iPhoto, Garageband, iMovie, and iDVD so you can import your photos and videos, edit and export them and burn them to DVDs and gift those to your uncle on his wedding anniversary. iBooks is also a great example of a productivity app. Students can now use their Macs in a whole new way to learn things. Now they can read books, which can speak and play videos for them so they can learn faster. Other apps like iCal, Calculator, Facetime, and Address Book helps people to finish their task off the list as quickly as possible.
6. Windows: You cannot find right software the first time:
When you lookup for software on windows platform, chances are less likely that you’ll get the one you need. In most cases, you will end up installing other toolbars and system speed optimization tools (that do nothing but slows down your computer) and when you double-click on the App icon, half of the time, it was not the App you were looking for. On the other hand, Apple, have some great developer community working on Mac Apps. All apps are amazingly written and optimized to run with Mac hardware so well that you’ll be amazed of the power of your computer doing things. Also if the app is on both platforms, generally Mac version looks more stunning and works more stable.
5. You know they are going to help You:
At Apple store, when you go to buy yourself a new computer, people who work there will show the best Mac according to your needs. They will even help you setup your new Mac and they can even teach you how to use it. Still confused? Stop at genius bar and have your questions answered. You can even make an online appointment right from your home desk and show up at Apple store at given time and there will be someone waiting specially for you to solve your problem. Also Apple offer discounts for students (hardware and software, both) so you can learn quickly and help change the world.
4. Photoshop, Final Cut Pro X, Logic.. No problem, bring it on!
When you walk into any Professional Music Studio or any Video or Photo editing lab, you’ll see a Mac sitting right there. It is not just because Mac is powerful and get things off the list quickly, it is because Mac is beautiful. It is itself a piece of art inside and out. And with that said, artists love to work on such machines that express themselves. Rendering Photoshop filters and processing RAW images is a smooth task on Mac.
You can work on 4K videos and render high-resolution music files on a Mac and still you can barely feel the sound of the fan cooling your computer (imagine doing that on a PC). The new Mac pro, is a real piece of some solid engineering done at Apple. It packs such a power and yet a single fan (that is not loud) cools it. Isn’t it awesome? And most importantly, Macs are lightweight so you can bring these power monsters with on site of photo or video shoot or maybe invite it into your live jam.
3. Does powerful mean power-hungry?
No, It means Mac. A Mac laptop is the world’s only laptop that packs so much power and battery into a single piece of aluminum. It’s not only the hardware that increases the battery life of your machine, it’s the software working so close to the hardware that it gets the most of juice out of it and OS X (built on a rock-solid UNIX foundation) is great at this job.
With the new killer features (like App Nap and Timer Coalescing) in Mavericks, you can get out of a 45-minute of juice out of your any Mac. And the new 13” MacBook Air gives you a truly all-day long (12-hour) battery life. Also OS X comes with a lot of accessibility tools that helps disabled-people to experience Mac in a full way.
When you think of a Mac, an aluminum design with an edge-to-edge glass display carrying some decent pixel density, an IO that everyone uses and a lot and lot of power comes to your mind. Macs are not beautiful only outside but they carry a class inside too. When you take off your Mac, all you see is a tightly packed machine with some premium quality black PCBs and the fans that are amazing to look at. When you are into Operating System, you see a unified menu bar, a dock that pops out when you hover over it, animations that are smooth and fun (and realistic) and power hidden behind all those. (Lets think about a PC, hahaha)
1. It’s an Apple:
Apple designs its own hardware and puts its own OS in it. So basically they know what they are doing with their computers and this is the reason Macs are so responsive and productive than any other computer. Apple controls Mac and they have designed a limited number of computers (because they put so much time and hard work in their computers) and the result is a beautifully crafted Mac (with no stupid LEDs blinking all over your computer). Just take a look at PCs, they are not built under a same company, each part comes from a different vendor, so when a problem arises you really don’t know where to rush for help. When a PC crashes, you have to reinstall it from a bootable USB or an Installation disc. It takes about 30 minutes in installing Windows, but wait, that’s not all.
You have to deal with drivers and shit, and then you will install an antivirus and other third-party software that helps you run your computer. But when you own a Mac, you know that when something goes terrible; just reinstall the OS from internet (you must have Ethernet or Wi-Fi connectivity available for it to download and install OS X) or use a recovery drive, and boom you have a fully working Mac again, (and yes no drivers and other shit) and if you are not comfortable with all this, just bring that to an Apple store. They can even help you in all the possible ways, and even replace your computer parts quickly (yes they do put High Quality stuff in there).
Result: You can never tell it is a repaired Mac and working on your Mac becomes the most enjoyable thing ever. That is the Biggest Reason Why I prefer Mac over a Windows PC.
